
On the occasion of her 78th birthday, Raakhee Gulzar, the celebrated actress of films like ‘Sharmilee’ and ‘Tapasya,’ shares her contentment with retirement. She expresses her happiness with a life outside the competitive demands of the film industry, stating that she never participated in such competition. She recalls that during the making of ‘Daag’, there were attempts to create a rivalry between her and Sharmila Tagore, which she never took seriously.
Raakhee shares fond memories of her co-stars, especially Shashi Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar, and her close relationship with Amitabh Bachchan, mentioning that they still share a mutual respect and affection. When asked about her favorite films, she mentions ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ and ‘Daag’, as well as ‘Doosra Aadmi’ and ‘Wafaa.’ She acknowledges that she was often offered dramatic roles, although she preferred lighter roles, but notes that such roles were rarely offered. She recently took on author-backed roles in Bengali films, and sees no opportunity to come back in the near future because she feels the roles aren’t available.
