Actor Rajat Bedi has commented on the ongoing defamation case initiated by former NCB Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede against Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment. The lawsuit pertains to the series ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood,’ a directorial venture by Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, and also features Bedi.
Speaking to ANI, Bedi offered a nuanced view, differentiating between official duties and personal circumstances. “Sameer ji represents the government, and Aryan is our kid,” he stated, adding that “the government is doing its job.” He also acknowledged Aryan Khan’s difficult period, noting, “Whatever happened, he’s gone through a tough phase.” While Bedi was reluctant to delve into specifics, he implied that the situation was unduly harsh.
“I don’t want to have any more comments on it,” Bedi concluded, but his words suggest a level of sympathy for Aryan Khan’s ordeal. The legal action by Wankhede follows the Delhi High Court’s issuance of summons to Red Chillies Entertainment and others on October 8. Wankhede’s petition argues that the series unfairly portrays anti-drug agencies and targets him personally, potentially influencing ongoing judicial proceedings. He seeks damages and an injunction against the creators and platform.
