The upcoming release of Rajinikanth’s film ‘Coolie’ is not just a movie premiere; it’s a celebration of the actor’s 50 years in cinema. Fans are enthusiastically preparing for the event. The Mumbai fan club has organized a series of events. ‘Coolie’ will be released on August 14, 2025, marking Rajinikanth’s five decades in the film industry. Anandi Anand, the head of the Mumbai fan club, revealed plans for a fan show of ‘Coolie’ at Miraj Cinema in Wadala at 6 AM. Celebrations will commence at 4:30 AM with fan clubs from Mumbai and Mira Road displaying banners. The tradition of celebrating Rajinikanth’s films in Mumbai dates back to 1991, with the film ‘Thalapathi’ at Aurora Cinema in Matunga. Nambi Rajan, the theater owner, recalls how posters were taken to temples and blessed before being displayed at the cinema, a tradition now replaced by digital displays and fan cutouts. To honor Rajinikanth’s 50 years, the fan club has arranged for 50 women to perform aarti for a 90-foot cutout of the actor. An abhishek with 90 liters of milk and the breaking of 50 coconuts will also be part of the celebration. Yuno Aqua Care has declared a holiday on the release day in its branches in Chennai, Bangalore, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Chengalpattu, Mattuthavani, and Arapalayam. The organization will also mark the occasion by distributing meals and sweets to the less fortunate and offering complimentary movie tickets to its employees.
