Rajinikanth’s recent film, ‘Coolie,’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has created a sensation in cinemas nationwide. The movie’s release has been highly anticipated, and its box office success has naturally fueled speculation regarding its availability on digital platforms. According to current reports, ‘Coolie’ will be released on Prime Video following its theatrical run. While no official date has been confirmed, the film is anticipated to become available online around October or November 2025. This estimation is based on the common industry practice of a 45 to 60-day window between theatrical and OTT releases.
The film features a prominent cast, including Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat, with a cameo appearance by Aamir Khan. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. The film’s certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) as ‘A’ for its violent content has also drawn attention, given that Lokesh Kanagaraj’s earlier films, ‘Leo’ and ‘Vikram,’ received ‘U/A’ certificates.
The storyline of ‘Coolie’ centers on Deva, a former gold smuggler who now works as a coolie and attempts to regain his former glory by reviving his old gang. He plans to utilize stolen technology concealed within vintage gold watches, which leads to unintended consequences.
