Ram Kapoor is facing intense criticism following allegations of making sexually inappropriate and unprofessional remarks during a promotional event for his upcoming web series, ‘Mistry.’ As a result, the streaming platform JioCinema has removed him from all promotional duties for the show. Reports detail that the actor made the contentious comments during a press event at JW Marriott, Juhu, in the presence of co-star Mona Singh and several JioHotstar executives. The comments that sparked the greatest outrage centered on Kapoor joking about media pressure by claiming he felt “gang-raped,” a remark allegedly made in front of a female journalist. Kapoor has since admitted to making the comments and accepting responsibility, stating, “I am guilty as charged.” He also expressed how he behaves in a more casual and free manner, and acknowledged that his behavior may have caused offense. Kapoor stated he was not aware of the discomfort his comments caused during the event. He also addressed the comment about a woman’s dress, clarifying that he had requested men to move before making the remark. Kapoor acknowledged this as his first major public controversy and asked for understanding. He realizes that his actions must change and that his words might be hurtful. He will be personally apologizing to the team members. ‘Mistry’ is a Hindi adaptation of the popular series ‘Monk’ and will premiere on JioHotstar on June 27. The show stars Ram Kapoor, Mona Singh, Shikha Talsania, Kshitish Date, and Dipak Dhar.
