Ranveer Singh’s latest cinematic offering, ‘Dhurandhar,’ has taken the box office by storm, achieving an extraordinary opening day collection that marks a new personal best for the acclaimed actor. The film, released on December 5th, has immediately proven to be a major box office success, captivating audiences and setting high expectations for its future performance.
Initial box office figures reveal that ‘Dhurandhar’ has collected a staggering ₹27 crore on its first day. This figure not only sets a new record for Ranveer Singh’s career but also surpasses the opening day earnings of several other prominent films, including ‘Saiyaara’s’ ₹21.50 crore opening. The film exhibited a strong audience turnout, with an overall occupancy rate of 33.81% across Hindi-speaking regions. The audience response grew significantly throughout the day, with evening and night shows seeing occupancy rates soar to nearly 60%, indicating a highly positive audience buzz.
This phenomenal opening day performance significantly exceeded pre-release predictions. Trade experts had anticipated an opening in the ₹15–18 crore range, making ‘Dhurandhar’s’ actual collection a remarkable achievement. This success propels ‘Dhurandhar’ to the top spot as Ranveer Singh’s highest-opening film, surpassing the impressive debuts of his previous hits such as ‘Padmaavat’ (₹24 crore) and ‘Simmba’ (₹20.72 crore).
The film has also secured a strong position as the second-highest opening of the year, following Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava.’ Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ boasts a star-studded cast alongside Ranveer Singh, including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The film’s engaging spy thriller plot, focusing on an infiltration mission within a terror network, combined with its action-packed sequences, has clearly struck a chord with viewers. While the film enjoys its theatrical success, anticipation is building for its digital premiere, with reports suggesting a Netflix release around January 30, 2026, following its cinema run, although an official announcement is awaited.
