A legal hurdle has emerged for ‘Dhurandhar,’ the spy-action film featuring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar. The family of the late Major Mohit Sharma has petitioned the Delhi High Court, seeking to prevent the film’s release until their concerns are addressed.
The core of the petition revolves around the alleged unauthorized use of real-life individuals in the movie’s storyline. Representatives for the family pointed out that the teaser, released previously, prominently features the late Major Mohit Sharma, and that the film’s characters, including SAA, are inspired by actual people. The central plot, they argue, is deeply intertwined with the life of Major Mohit Sharma.
The High Court has responded by directing the CBFC to carefully review all the specific points put forth by the petitioners. Additionally, the court suggested that any army-related content should be evaluated by the appropriate army authorities, such as ADGPI, whose feedback should then be provided to the CBFC.
This judicial intervention means the film’s certification is now under scrutiny. The legal counsel for the parents confirmed that their objections have been formally presented. They retain the option to file further applications, such as an injunction, if the situation requires, ensuring their stance is fully considered before the film proceeds to public screening.
