Hrithik Roshan’s ‘War 2’ premiered on August 14th, and the film’s performance has been underwhelming. The YRF spy universe’s plans appear to be faltering after just four days, with the film’s earnings falling short of expectations. Sunday saw the lowest earnings for ‘War 2’ as Rajinikanth’s ‘Kuli,’ released on the same day, continues to outperform it. The article examines the Sunday earnings of ‘War 2’.
According to Sacnilk’s data, ‘War 2’ is lagging behind Hrithik Roshan’s previous film, ‘War,’ in terms of earnings. The budget for ‘War 2’ is estimated at 400 crore, and it has collected 173 crore in India within four days. The film faces a critical test starting from Monday.
The film earned 52 crore on its opening day, with a decline in earnings each subsequent day. On the second day, it earned 57.35 crore. While the highest earnings were expected on Saturday and Sunday, the results were disappointing. The third-day collection was 33.25 crore, and Sunday’s business was 31 crore. The Hindi version has contributed the most to the collection in the first three days: 29 crore on the first day, 44.5 crore on the second day, and 26 crore on the third day. Telugu also performed well.
‘War,’ which was released in 2019, earned 37.40 crore on its first Sunday, which is significantly higher than the Sunday earnings of the current film. Notably, the previous film did not have any contribution from the South Indian industry. This time, a significant investment was made in Jr. NTR, but it appears to be a misstep. It remains to be seen whether ‘War 2’ can surpass ‘War’ on its first Monday.
The YRF spy universe had high hopes for this film, but the strategy hasn’t worked as planned. Recovering the 400 crore budget now seems challenging. Given the current reception, the film’s future is uncertain. The presence of multiple flaws in a single film increases the risk of it being a flop.
