
India will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on August 15, 2025. The historic Red Fort in Delhi will be the focal point as Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation from its ramparts. This address will mark his 12th Independence Day speech as Prime Minister. The program is set to begin at approximately 7:30 AM. The national flag will be hoisted at 7:35 AM. The national anthem and national salute will follow at 7:37 AM. Prime Minister Modi’s address is scheduled for 7:45 AM. Upon his arrival at the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi will be greeted by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other senior officials. The Indian Armed Forces and Delhi Police will then present a Guard of Honour to the Prime Minister. The national flag hoisting party will consist of 32 other rank personnel, including one officer each from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police. This 128-member group will offer the national salute during the flag hoisting. The Tricolour will be given a national salute after the flag hoisting. An Air Force band, consisting of a JCO and 25 other ranks, will perform the national anthem during the flag hoisting and national salute.
