Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, stated that the responsibility for consolidating the INDIA alliance falls upon its largest member. He expressed regret over the lack of meetings among alliance partners since the elections. Abdullah stated, “The responsibility to strengthen the INDIA alliance is neither mine nor Mamata Banerjee’s. This responsibility belongs to the biggest partner of the INDIA Alliance.” He noted that the last meeting was held after the elections at Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence. On the issue of statehood for J&K, Abdullah emphasized the need to restore the state’s status, highlighting the perceived injustice of being a Union Territory. He urged the central government to act swiftly in granting statehood and restoring the region’s security responsibilities. When asked about the Supreme Court’s decision on the Bihar electoral rolls, Abdullah stated the importance of respecting the court’s decision and allowing elections to proceed.
