
Tata Sons has declared that they will provide ₹1 crore in ex-gratia to the families of each victim of the tragic Air India Flight 171 crash. Furthermore, the company will cover the medical expenses of the injured and guarantee that they receive necessary care and support. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The flight was heading to Gatwick in London and carried 242 people, including 12 crew members. The aircraft, under the command of Capt Sumeet Sabharwal, crashed into a doctors’ hostel near the airport perimeter. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sorrow regarding the incident. He also conveyed condolences and promised to assist those affected by the accident. The aircraft made a Mayday call before communication was lost with ATC. The flight originated from Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from runway 23.
