A significant property scam in Ahmedabad has come to light with businessman Rakesh Lahoti filing a detailed FIR against builder Kamlesh Gondalia and his associated entities. The complaint, registered at the DCP Crime Office, outlines a sophisticated operation involving fabricated documents, multiple sales of the same properties, financial deceit, and a grave breach of trust. Between 2019 and 2025, Lahoti, through his companies Clearsky Tradelink LLP and Rakesh Investment Co., invested heavily in properties across Ahmedabad and Kheda districts based on sale agreements with Gondalia and his family. The targeted properties included residential units in Takshashila Elegna, land parcels in Nayka, a bungalow in Ambli, and apartments in Treasure Enclave. Despite 100% payments made by Lahoti, the properties were never handed over, nor were ownership documents finalized. According to the FIR, Gondalia’s group allegedly manipulated RERA records to show these properties as available while conducting further transactions. A Rs 3 crore payment in June 2025, labeled as a loan repayment, is described as a ruse to legitimize the fraudulent dealings. The FIR also mentions alleged threats and intimidation from Gondalia when Lahoti questioned the transactions. The complaint invokes serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, pertaining to fraud and organized crime. Lahoti has presented a strong body of documentary evidence and is pressing for swift police action, including asset freezes and forensic audits, to dismantle the alleged fraudulent network and restore faith in the real estate industry.
