
A residential society in Ahmedabad’s Ambavadi experienced a major structural failure as a water tank collapsed, leading to the entrapment of over ten individuals. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene near the Azad Nagar Society, launching a rescue operation. The collapse involved two water tanks with a total capacity of 2,000 liters, located on the third floor of apartments near Azad Nagar Society, which gave way due to heavy rainfall on Sunday. Fortunately, the immediate area was unoccupied, and no fatalities were reported. Rescue efforts utilized ladders to extract those trapped. An elderly woman sustained injuries and received treatment. The situation is now stabilized, with all trapped individuals safely rescued. The Municipal Corporation’s Estate Department is expected to issue a report soon, which will guide the next steps, including potential repairs or demolition. Temporary relocation of residents from Birju Apartments has been implemented as officials evaluate safety risks and damage. This incident has brought to light concerns regarding the safety of individuals living in apartment complexes.
