
The process of identifying victims of the Air India plane crash has progressed, with DNA matching completed for 87 individuals. This was confirmed by Dr. Rajnish Patel, the Additional Medical Superintendent of Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital, who reported 92 DNA matches due to some sample overlap. Families have begun receiving the remains of their loved ones, with 47 bodies dispatched to various districts, including Kheda, Ahmedabad, Kota, Mahesana, Bharuch, Vadodara, Aravalli, Anand, Junagarh, Bhavnagar, Amreli, and Mahisagar. The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, leading to 241 deaths, among them former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. An expert from the UK visited the crash site. Rupani’s cremation will take place in Rajkot with full state honors. The Tricolour will be used to pay respects to his remains, and a large amount of flowers will decorate the hearse carrying his body. Authorities are ensuring the remaining bodies are handled with respect. The plane crash resulted in 241 fatalities from the 242 people on board, with one survivor undergoing treatment. In addition, 33 individuals, including local residents and MBBS students, lost their lives when the plane struck a doctor’s hostel.
