
Air India has announced its plan to reinstate all international flights, aiming to complete the process by October. This follows an aviation-related incident that occurred in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on June 12th, which led to rigorous checks and temporary flight suspensions.
CEO Campbell Wilson confirmed that the airline has already started restoring some international services from August 1st. The goal is to have all previously canceled flights operational by October 1st, after the events in Ahmedabad led to flight cancellations.
During recent audits, the DGCA found more than 100 issues across several Air India flights. The aviation authority immediately instructed the airline to rectify these shortcomings.
CEO Campbell Wilson indicated that all flights that were suspended would be reinstated by October 1st. The phased reintroduction of flights started on August 1st.
Following the incident in Ahmedabad, multiple Air India flights experienced various problems, including emergency landings and technical issues. Over 80 flights were canceled in the week after the incident. Simultaneously, the DGCA initiated inspections of all Air India aircraft, a process which is now mostly finished.
On June 12th, Air India flight AI171, which was heading from Ahmedabad to London, crashed shortly after takeoff. The accident caused the tragic loss of 297 lives, with 241 of the 242 people on the plane perishing.
