A high-level meeting was conducted by the DGCA with senior officials from Air India and Air India Express. The focus of the meeting was to evaluate operational resilience and reaffirm both carriers’ adherence to safety standards and passenger service regulations. The DGCA oversees the operation of over 1,000 daily flights between the two airlines. Seven key areas were reviewed to ensure compliance and boost operational reliability. The DGCA highlighted that between June 12th and June 17th, 2025, 83 flights in Air India’s wide-body operations were canceled, with a significant portion being Boeing 787 flights. The regulator recommended the implementation of a more systematic and real-time defect reporting system to improve decision-making and prevent operational disruptions. The meeting took place following the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12th, which resulted in the loss of 270 lives.
