The Amarnath Yatra has begun, with the first pilgrims setting out from the Nunwan Pahalgam base camp. The annual pilgrimage to the cave shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas, located at an elevation of 3,880 meters, is being conducted with reinforced security measures following the recent terror incident. Pilgrims are traveling along the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route or the 14-km Baltal route. Undeterred by the attack, many devotees have started their pilgrimage, expressing their dedication to their faith. The security apparatus includes a three-tier system with a large deployment of security personnel in Pahalgam and along the main highway. The enhanced security features include AI-based facial recognition, RFID tracking, and comprehensive surveillance using CCTV and drone technology.
