
In Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with the officers who spearheaded the recent anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh. He expressed his congratulations on their remarkable success, highlighting the government’s resolve to tackle Naxalism.
The operations were carried out by the Chhattisgarh Police, including the DRG units, in the Abujhmad area from May 18 to May 21. A significant encounter in the forests of Boter village on May 21 led to the killing of 27 Naxals, including the CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju alias Gaganna, and the recovery of substantial arms and ammunition.
Among the officers honored were Arun Dev Gautam, Vivekanand, Sundarraj, Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh. Also present at the meeting were Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sharma, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, along with other high-ranking officials.
