Prime Minister Narendra Modi has voiced apprehension regarding the increasing infiltration in Assam, recognizing it as a significant issue. In his speech in Golaghat, he alleged that the previous Congress governments had aided infiltrators, thereby upsetting the state’s demographic equilibrium for political advantages. He underscored the BJP government’s concerted efforts, in collaboration with the people of Assam, to combat infiltration. Modi also lauded the Assam government, under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, for its Mission Basundhara. This mission has provided land leases to countless families. The Prime Minister reiterated the BJP’s dedication to rectify what he characterized as past injustices against tribal societies. He also inaugurated projects, including a bamboo-based ethanol plant and expressed gratitude for the widespread affection and support he receives in the Northeast.
