Today, Ayodhya celebrates the Dhwajarohan, the flag hoisting ceremony that marks the complete architectural construction of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir. This deeply spiritual event symbolizes the temple’s full activation as a Tirthakshetra and the proclamation of ‘Ram Rajya’. The revered saffron flag, a symbol of Lord Ram’s divine authority, will be raised this afternoon during a special 44-minute auspicious window. Ayodhya is resplendent with decorations, including illuminated streets and large effigies of Lord Ram and Sita, in anticipation of this grand culmination. A spectacular laser show last night illuminated the temple’s spire with scenes from Lord Ram’s life, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. Ancient traditions dictate that a flag atop a temple spire signifies the deity’s presence, divine power, and protective aura over the sacred land. The Dhwajarohan ceremony confirms the temple’s completed status and its spiritual significance. The timing of this ceremony, November 25th, was chosen to coincide with Vivah Panchami, commemorating the wedding of Lord Ram and Sita. The most propitious period for the ritual is the Abhijeet Muhurat, from 11:45 AM to 12:29 PM IST, a time historically linked to Lord Ram’s birth and considered highly auspicious for divine undertakings. The flag itself is a testament to tradition and craftsmanship: a 22-foot long and 11-foot wide saffron banner, to be hoisted on a 42-foot pole atop the main spire. It is adorned with three sacred hand-drawn symbols: Surya (Sun), representing divine energy and the Suryavansh lineage; Om (ॐ), the life force of creation; and the Kovidar Vriksha, a symbolic tree of purity and prosperity associated with Raghuvansh kings. The Prime Minister is anticipated to attend, contributing to the event’s solemnity and security.
