Karnataka’s Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, has engaged with Wipro’s Azim Premji to address the severe traffic congestion plaguing Bengaluru, particularly on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near the Iblur junction. The CM’s letter suggests leveraging Wipro’s campus to facilitate the movement of some vehicles as a potential solution. The letter, sent on September 19, highlighted the adverse effects of traffic congestion on daily commutes, productivity, and the city’s overall well-being. The proposed solution involves allowing limited vehicle passage through the Wipro campus, pending agreement between both parties and the implementation of required safety measures. Traffic experts have estimated that this measure could alleviate traffic congestion by up to 30% during peak office hours in the ORR vicinity. Siddaramaiah has urged Wipro to collaborate with government officials to establish a mutually agreeable and effective plan, emphasizing that Wipro’s contribution will be invaluable in enhancing Bengaluru’s livability.
