Every day, a teacher in Kerala swims across the Kadalundi River to reach his school, a practice he’s maintained for over 20 years. Abdul Malik, a math teacher, has been making this daily aquatic commute to Muslim Lower Primary School in Malappuram. His dedication has set an example, inspiring many. Instead of a 12-kilometer road trip, Malik opts to swim. He places his books and clothes in a plastic bag, which he secures to an inner tube. Malik also leads river cleaning initiatives, emphasizing his commitment to the environment. His students admire his commitment and refer to him as “Tube Master.”
