
Aparajita Sarangi, the Member of Parliament from Bhubaneswar, has voiced her condemnation of the assault on Ratnakar Sahoo, the Additional Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). She stated that the act is against the principles of the BJP.
The incident took place during a grievance redressal meeting at the BMC office. Sarangi has appealed to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to take strong action against the perpetrators. She acknowledged that she was acquainted with some of the individuals involved, but reiterated that such actions are not in line with the BJP’s ideology. Law enforcement has made arrests in the case.
The Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association has postponed its planned protest following discussions with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who assured that those responsible will be punished. The incident has created political tension, with opposition parties also strongly criticizing the assault on Ratnakar Sahoo. Naveen Patnaik, former Chief Minister, expressed his shock and called for swift and appropriate action against all those involved, including any political figures who may have been involved.
