The Election Commission of India has officially called for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, signaling the start of a major political contest. Polling for the 243 Vidhansabha seats will take place on November 6 and November 11, with the final vote count scheduled for November 14.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has finalized its seat allocation strategy. The JDU and BJP are set to contest 101 seats each, while HAM and RLM will vie for six seats each. Chirag Paswan’s LJP-RV has been given 29 seats for the electoral battle.
Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan, a coalition of RJD, Congress, VIP, and Left parties, is preparing to mount a strong challenge against the ruling NDA and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Adding a new dimension to the elections is Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj, which has declared its intention to contest all 243 seats on its own platform. This independent venture is expected to significantly influence the election outcomes.
Notably, Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM, which previously achieved success with five seats, is expanding its presence by contesting a larger number of seats this time around. Concerns about potential vote division and polarization, particularly in Muslim-majority constituencies, have been voiced.
