
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar shared updates on the preparations for the Bihar Assembly elections, set to occur before November 22, 2025. The state has 243 constituencies, with specific reservations for STs and SCs. Kumar acknowledged the successful completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. He commended the efforts of booth-level officers, specifically mentioning the work of 90,217 officers in cleaning the voter list. The CEC highlighted the importance of voter participation, urging citizens to treat the election as a significant democratic event. The CEC praised the booth-level officers for their work in purifying the voter list, calling their work exemplary across the country. The upcoming election in Bihar is expected to be a contest between the ruling NDA and the Mahagathbandhan. The Election Commission officials were on a two-day review visit to the state. The current seat distribution shows the NDA with 131 seats and the Mahagathbandhan with 111 seats.
