The Congress party has officially declared its first batch of 48 candidates for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections, showcasing a strong emphasis on empowering women and Muslim communities. The list, released on Thursday evening, includes five female candidates and four Muslim nominees, reflecting a diverse approach to representation. Prominent selections include State President Rajesh Ram for the Kutumba constituency and senior leader Shakeel Ahmed for Kadwa. The party has also backed eleven current MLAs, ensuring continuity in key areas like Bhagalpur and Buxar. In a notable change, Chandan Yadav will contest from Khagaria, replacing sitting MLA Chhatrapati Yadav. This strategic selection process is informed by a deep dive into the socio-political landscape of each constituency, including caste dynamics and past voting patterns. The Congress is keen to improve upon its 2020 performance and is working within the INDIA bloc to secure favorable seat allocations. Leadership changes and renewed outreach efforts are part of the party’s broader strategy. The first phase of Bihar’s elections is slated for November 6.
