The Bihar government is introducing the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, a significant step towards women’s empowerment. The scheme, approved by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, will provide financial aid to women. Under this program, each family in the state will have one woman receive ₹10,000 to begin the employment of her choice. The intention is to boost women’s independence and expand employment opportunities. The Chief Minister noted that the government has been working on women’s empowerment since November 2005. This recent decision aims to empower women, enabling them to contribute to Bihar’s progress while strengthening their families’ financial situations. The first part of the ₹10,000 will be released to women to help them launch their preferred employment. The Rural Development Department will determine the entire application process, supported by the Urban Development and Housing Department. The money will be directly transferred to women’s bank accounts starting in September 2025. After six months of the employment, an assessment will be done, and more funds up to ₹2 lakh could be given. Furthermore, ‘Haat bazaars’ are set to be established across Bihar to help women sell their products.
