The Mahagathbandhan’s Voter Rights March in Bihar has been a platform for Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi. The tenth day saw the participation of Priyanka Gandhi and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. This has prompted criticism from Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor.
Prashant Kishor remarked, “If the Congress, Rahul Gandhi and the alliance have brought Revanth Reddy to Bihar for campaigning, it indicates what they think of Bihar. Revanth Reddy is the same individual who stated that it is in the DNA of the people of Bihar to work as laborers.”
He further commented that if the Congress is featuring such a person on the Bihar stage, every individual in Bihar has a responsibility to send him back to Telangana. This is to make him realize that if people of Bihar are meant only for labor, why is he campaigning for votes there?
Prior to this, Prashant Kishor posted on X, writing, “Revanth claims that the DNA of Biharis is for labor. Rahul Gandhi is promoting him in Bihar, revealing an anti-Bihar attitude. If Revanth enters a village, the public will drive him away with force.”
The crux of the controversy lies in a statement made by Telangana CM Revanth Reddy two years ago, which Prashant Kishor highlighted, labeling it as an insult to the people of Bihar. In December 2024, Reddy had criticized then-CM KCR, saying, “My DNA is from Telangana, KCR’s DNA is from Bihar. Telangana’s DNA is superior to Bihar’s.”
This statement by Reddy sparked considerable outrage, drawing protests from various political parties. BJP leaders condemned it as casteist and divisive. The involvement of Reddy in the Voter Rights March has now brought this issue back to the forefront.
