Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana in Bihar, facilitating a direct transfer of funds to empower women. A sum of Rs 10,000 was transferred to each of the 75 lakh women beneficiaries, culminating in a total disbursement of Rs 7,500 crore. The scheme, a Bihar government initiative, aims to foster women’s self-reliance and enhance their livelihood prospects. The financial aid provided will enable women to undertake employment or livelihood activities of their choosing, promoting economic independence and social upliftment. The funds can be utilized in a range of sectors including agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, and small businesses. Community involvement, including training from Self Help Groups and the development of Gramin Haat-Bazaars, will be crucial to the success of the program. The launch of the initiative involved a large-scale program across the state, engaging women at different administrative levels.
