
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana in Bihar through video conferencing, marking a significant step towards empowering women. The program saw an immediate impact, with Rs 10,000 disbursed directly into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women. This first phase of financial assistance totals Rs 7,500 crore and aims to boost self-employment initiatives and improve livelihoods in the state. The Prime Minister emphasized his commitment to the welfare of Bihar’s women during the Navratri celebrations, highlighting the massive reach of the scheme. The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana is a key initiative of the Bihar government, aimed at creating Aatmanirbhar women and promoting women’s empowerment through self-employment and livelihood opportunities. The scheme offers financial aid to women from each family, enabling them to undertake employment or livelihood activities. Beneficiaries will initially receive Rs. 10,000, with the possibility of receiving up to Rs. 2 lakh in subsequent phases. The funds are flexible and can be used for various ventures, including agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving, and small businesses. Community involvement is a core aspect, with Self Help Groups providing essential training. Furthermore, Gramin Haat-Bazaars will be established to support the sale of produced goods. The launch of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana is scheduled to take place at multiple administrative levels, drawing participation from over 1 crore women.
