
In Muzaffarpur, Bihar, a teacher’s transfer was the occasion for an elaborate and touching farewell. The teacher’s car was decorated like a bridal carriage, and a band played as she was sent off. The farewell ceremony followed the transfer of Rekha Kumari Chaudhary from Adarsh Madhya Vidyalaya Aropur, Saraiya block. While transfers are a regular part of government service, it’s rare to see such a large gathering of students, parents, and community members to celebrate and make the farewell special.
