Vijay Kumar Sinha, the Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister of Bihar, proudly announced that the Agricultural University, Sabour, has been awarded an A grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). This is a momentous accomplishment for the university and for the state of Bihar, marking a significant leap in the realms of higher education, research, and innovation.
Sinha emphasized that this success is a direct result of the dedication, hard work, and combined efforts of everyone involved. The collaborative academic atmosphere, fostered by teachers, scientists, staff, students, and farmers, has been pivotal in achieving this esteemed recognition. This achievement highlights the positive impact of the Bihar government’s initiatives in education and agriculture, now recognized nationally. The university now stands among the leading institutions in the state and among the top NAAC-accredited agricultural universities in the country.
The NAAC peer team conducted a thorough evaluation from May 28 to May 30, scrutinizing academic, administrative, infrastructural, research, and extension aspects. This accreditation affirms the university’s dedication to higher education, research, innovation, and national advancement. In a short span of 15 years, the university has secured a commendable 3.08 CGPA, establishing a strong national presence. This achievement underscores the university’s consistent pursuit of academic excellence, inclusive development, research progress, and administrative transparency.
The Minister noted that the grading is in harmony with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, reflecting the university’s strategies and implementation. The effective execution of the Bihar Agricultural Roadmap, along with the strong support from the state government, has significantly contributed to this success. The university has restructured its curriculum, making it multidisciplinary, skill-oriented, and innovation-driven, in line with NEP 2020. The NAAC team lauded the curriculum design and development, focusing on outcome-based education, experiential learning, and industry-academic collaborations.
Students benefit from interdisciplinary and optional course selections, early involvement in research, and credit transfer facilities, supporting NEP’s flexible, student-centric, and holistic development approach. The strong feedback system, drawing input from students, alumni, educators, employers, and other stakeholders, has also been a distinguishing characteristic of the university.
The Deputy Chief Minister extended his congratulations to the entire university community and urged them to continue building upon this success, aiming to position Bihar as a frontrunner in knowledge, science, and agricultural innovation.
