The Bihar government has initiated a project to build three new five-star hotels, with an MoU signed with Kumar Infratech in Patna. Tourism Minister Raju Kumar Singh oversaw the agreement. The project will utilize a public-private partnership model to provide improved accommodation for tourists in Patna. The first hotel is slated to be built on the land of Hotel Patliputra Ashok by ITC Hotels within four years. The agreement was formalized between ITC Hotels and the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC). The hotel will be built on 1.5 acres of land and will feature a minimum of 140 rooms. Kumar Infratech Enterprises Private Limited of Patna was previously awarded the project, and they selected ITC to manage the luxury five-star hotel. The bidding process for a five-star hotel at the Bankipur Bus Stand complex in Gandhi Maidan is in its final stages. A committee has been formed to assess the suitability of the Sultan Palace site on Birchand Patel Path for a five-star hotel development, considering its heritage status. The selection of companies will be based on the committee’s findings. Additionally, construction is underway for two five-star hotels in Rajgir and one in Vaishali. Companies eligible for constructing a five-star hotel will be considered for the guest house in Valmiki Nagar, constructed by the Building Construction Department. Manish Kumar, a director at Kumar Infratech, highlighted ITC Hotels’ recent operations in Bodh Gaya and the agreement with ITC in Patna. Anil Chaddha from the ITC group confirmed the four-year timeframe for completing the five-star hotel. The event was attended by senior officials from the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation and the Tourism Department. The construction of these hotels will comply with the Infrastructure Development Enabling Amendment Act 2023.
