
A critical meeting took place in Bihar, overseen by Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, to evaluate the state’s readiness for the impending assembly elections. The meeting, held in the main secretariat, involved high-ranking officials from the Bhagalpur and Munger divisions. Discussions centered on election-related preparations, with reports presented by District Magistrates, Police Superintendents, and other relevant personnel. These reports encompassed the status of polling stations, security protocols, voter list updates, and compliance with the Model Code of Conduct.
The Chief Secretary issued directives to achieve zero poll boycott in the forthcoming elections. Recognizing the limited timeframe before the elections, he stressed the need for all officials to maintain diligence in their assigned responsibilities. He further ordered the initiation of vehicle inspections at various times throughout the districts and the activation of border check posts. Police Superintendents were instructed to verify arms holders at their residences.
The Chief Electoral Officer, Vinod Singh Gunjial, emphasized the significance of extensive voter awareness campaigns. He directed BLOs to ensure the prompt collection and submission of house-to-house survey forms. Additionally, he suggested that voter awareness campaigns be conducted in urban areas, including the use of jingles on garbage trucks. Comprehensive campaigns must be launched to encourage voter participation.
The Director General of Police, Vinay Kumar, ordered the compilation of a comprehensive list of criminals, including history-sheeters, and fugitives. He also instructed for the expedited resolution of Arms Act cases. All police stations were directed to remain vigilant throughout the election period, with all SPs instructed to ensure heightened security measures.
