Bihar is currently experiencing intense political activity. The Mahagathbandhan’s Voter Rights Yatra has been met with strong criticism from the Janata Dal United (JDU). The JDU has accused Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav of spreading misinformation and called for them to apologize. Concurrently, the Congress party is preparing for the upcoming elections with its screening committee planning a tour of Bihar to evaluate potential candidates. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), in contrast, has accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of aligning himself with the BJP and RSS.
During a press conference at the JDU party office, national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad and media panelist Mahesh Das addressed the media. They sharply criticized the Voter Rights Yatra of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, claiming the leaders were misleading the public and should issue an apology.
The JDU highlighted that Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav are frequently using lies to mislead the public. They cited Rahul Gandhi’s use of CSDS data, which was later retracted by the analyst, to criticize the Election Commission. The JDU questioned if Rahul Gandhi would apologize to the public and the Election Commission.
They further detailed Rahul Gandhi’s history of apologies, including those concerning the Rafale issue, statements about the army, and a defamation case related to his remarks about Modi.
The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee is actively preparing for the upcoming assembly elections. The screening committee, which includes MP Praniti Shinde and in-charge secretary Devendra Yadav, will embark on a three-day tour of Bihar from August 23 to August 25, 2025. The committee plans to meet with potential candidates from various districts during this period.
The first meeting is scheduled for Sasaram, followed by meetings in Gaya and Patna. These meetings will involve potential candidates and district officials.
The RJD has accused CM Nitish Kumar of appeasing the BJP and RSS. During a press conference at the RJD state office, leaders Kari Mo Shohaib, Ejaz Ahmed, and Mujahid Alam discussed the alleged irregularities in the Madrasa Board’s centenary celebration. They claimed the board spent a significant amount of money to promote Nitish Kumar and BJP ministers and that Urdu newspapers were coerced into publishing advertisements for free. Furthermore, they alleged that holidays were declared in government madrasas, and teachers were forced to participate in JDU rallies. They also accused the chairman of the Madrasa Board of utilizing Muslim institutions for political gain.
The Indian Communist Party-ML criticized the Election Commission, claiming that a recent commission bulletin inaccurately stated that no objections were raised by political parties’ BLAs regarding voter list exclusions. The party asserted that the commission failed to establish a clear process for registering objections and disregarded their objections due to improper formatting.
JDU state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha criticized the opposition’s Voter Rights Yatra, stating that the Congress and RJD are using the yatra to protect their own political interests and that they lack genuine issues. He also alleged that the opposition previously engaged in booth capturing and violated fundamental rights. Kushwaha accused Rahul and Tejashwi of misleading the public.
Dr. Santosh Suman of the Hindustan Awami Morcha (Sec.) stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Gaya will promote its development. He mentioned that the government’s vision of ‘heritage and development’ will be realized with the city’s comprehensive development.
He further announced that the Prime Minister will inaugurate various projects totaling Rs 1675 crore for Gaya’s development, including an industrial corridor. He emphasized that the meeting in Gaya would be historic, and all NDA parties are fully prepared to ensure its success.
