The newly constructed 6-lane Ganga bridge between Aunta (Mokama) and Simaria (Begusarai) in Bihar was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The project spans 8.150 kilometers, with the bridge itself covering 1.865 kilometers. After the opening ceremony, PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar inspected the new bridge.
A grand cultural program was arranged to celebrate PM Modi’s visit. A large gathering near the 6-lane bridge enthusiastically welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who acknowledged the welcome by waving to the crowds.
As part of the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also led a road show. Along the roadshow route, thousands of people showed their support for PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar. The 6-lane bridge, constructed at a cost of 1871 crore rupees, runs parallel to the Rajendra Setu.
The construction of this world-class Ganga bridge provides modern road connectivity, enhancing the transport network between North and South Bihar. The older Rajendra Setu’s condition necessitated a 100-kilometer detour for heavy vehicles; this new bridge reduces the journey to a mere 8 kilometers, yielding considerable savings in time and fuel. It will also lead to lower logistical costs.
Local businesses and industries will benefit from the decreased logistics costs. The bridge will enhance connectivity for regions in North Bihar, including Supaul, Madhubani, Araria, and Begusarai, with those in South Bihar, like Sheikhpura, Nawada, and Lakhisarai. Furthermore, local industries such as the Indian Oil Corporation Limited Refinery, Barauni Thermal Power Station, Barauni Sudha Dairy, and Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited will be strengthened. This bridge will facilitate the efficient transport of agricultural goods such as makhana, bananas, milk, and maize to larger markets, which will boost economic activities and generate new job prospects.
