A Bihar bandh is underway, with BJP supporters protesting in Patna. Protests include setting tires on fire at Pachim Darwaza Morh. Demonstrations were organized in response to the offensive language directed towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during an event. The NDA announced the bandh, which is scheduled to last from 7 AM to 12 PM, with exemptions for essential services like hospitals, ambulances, and railway operations.
During the five-hour bandh, BJP workers protested in Danapur, setting tires alight on roads, and staging sit-ins. Women also participated in the protests.
BJP leaders have strongly condemned the INDIA alliance’s actions. Dilip Jaiswal, the Bihar BJP President, criticized the INDIA alliance for the remarks against PM Modi’s mother. He called on Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav to apologize. BJP leader Sanjay Mayukh emphasized that the women of Bihar were involved in the bandh. Ravi Shankar Prasad, a BJP MP, labeled the remarks as shameful and demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav.
The bandh has resulted in the closure of schools, colleges, and coaching institutions. Intercity bus services, government offices, and private businesses are also closed. However, petrol pumps, medical facilities, essential shops, and railway services are exempt and will remain open.
