The Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister of Bihar, Vijay Kumar Sinha, initiated an AI-based agricultural radio broadcasting system to boost the use of digital technology in agriculture. The launch was held at the media center in the Agriculture Department building in Patna, with the Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department, Pankaj Kumar, also present.
During his address, Deputy CM Vijay Sinha emphasized the transformative potential of the integration of agriculture and artificial intelligence, stating that it could lead to a new era in agricultural technology. This convergence aims not only to aid farmers in boosting their incomes but also to equip them with the tools to confront challenges such as climate change.
The initiative involves the launch of a digital radio service named Bihar Krishi Radio. It is available for download from the Play Store and App Store. The application is designed to meet the specific needs of farmers, with the primary aim of providing them with accurate and timely information. It will provide weather forecasts, guidance on crop disease management, details on agricultural schemes, market prices, and updates on mandi conditions.
A key aspect of this system is its AI-based analysis, which examines data related to weather patterns, soil conditions, and market dynamics, offering farmers rapid access to essential information. The radio service will be offered in regional languages, making it accessible and easily understood. Additionally, the service will be available 24/7 and will feature interactive capabilities, allowing farmers to ask questions and receive direct answers from the AI system.
The implementation of this radio service is expected to deliver several benefits to farmers. These include access to accurate and timely weather information, aiding in the safeguarding of crops. Moreover, it will provide timely advice on pest and disease management, helping minimize crop losses, and keep farmers informed about current market prices to maximize their earnings. The availability of information on government schemes and subsidies will also enable farmers to take full advantage of available resources.
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed his confidence that the AI-based agricultural radio broadcasting system would foster an information revolution in the agricultural world. He also stated that this initiative will play a crucial role in connecting farmers with modern technology, boosting productivity, and making farming more profitable.
The event was attended by several officials, including the Director of the Agriculture Department, Nitin Kumar Singh, and the Director of Horticulture, Abhishek Kumar, as well as other departmental officials.
