In a significant move, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced changes to the domicile policy, prioritizing Bihar residents in teacher recruitment. The Education Department has been instructed to amend the rules for this. The policy will be effective from the upcoming TRE-4 recruitment round. This announcement prompted a sharp reaction from Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader and the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly.
Yadav took to social media platform X to express his views, questioning the Chief Minister about his feelings on the government’s apparent imitation of the opposition’s ideas.
In his post, Yadav highlighted the NDA government’s prior rejection of the domicile policy, accusing them of now copying the opposition’s initiatives. He suggested that the government’s lack of original ideas was evident, and that they were now following the opposition’s lead.
Yadav further criticized the NDA government, stating that the people of Bihar are pleased to see a government that has been in power for 20 years, now seemingly taking direction from the opposition. He also listed a range of proposals that the government had allegedly copied, including social security pensions, free electricity, job creation, and increased honorariums for various workers.
Chief Minister Kumar elaborated on the policy, stating the government’s commitment to improving the education system since 2005. He mentioned that numerous teachers have been appointed, and that the Education Department has been directed to amend the rules to give preference to Bihar residents in teacher recruitment.
This policy will be implemented starting from TRE-4 in 2025, with TRE-5 scheduled for 2026. The STET exam will be conducted before TRE-5.
