A crucial meeting took place on Sunday among the Mahagathbandhan partners to finalize seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The meeting, held at the residence of Tejashwi Yadav, aimed to resolve the allocation of seats among the alliance members. Following the meeting, leaders confirmed that the seat distribution plan has been agreed upon, with a press conference planned within the next two days to reveal the specifics.
After the meeting, Mukesh Sahani, the president of the Vikassheel Insaan Party, informed reporters that all arrangements were settled. He refrained from providing details, citing a press conference scheduled for the day after tomorrow to reveal the full plan.
The anticipation of the election announcement by the Election Commission, given the completion of voter list updates and meetings with political parties, has intensified the focus on seat distribution discussions among the parties.
The meeting at Tejashwi Yadav’s residence served as a platform for the final decision-making on seat allocations within the Mahagathbandhan. While the exact distribution of seats per party wasn’t immediately disclosed, sources indicate a resolution was reached.
Before the meeting, state Congress president Rajesh Kumar and AICC in-charge Krishna Allavaru had highlighted ‘seat distribution’ and ‘potential candidates’ as key discussion points.
In the 2020 elections, the RJD contested 144 seats and secured 75 victories. The Congress faced challenges, winning only 19 of the 70 seats it contested. The Left parties had a favorable outcome with CPI-ML winning 12 out of 19, CPM 2 out of 4, and CPI 2 out of 6 seats. The opposition alliance includes parties like Vikassheel Insaan Party, JMM, and Pashupati Paras’ LJP faction, who have also put forth their demands.
