The Bihar government is promoting marigold flower cultivation among farmers with a special scheme designed to boost their income. The state’s Agriculture Department is accepting online applications for the Marigold Development Scheme, which aims to help farmers gain significant profits in a relatively short time through the cultivation of marigolds.
Under this scheme, each farmer can utilize a minimum of 0.1 hectares and a maximum of 2 hectares of land. The scheme offers a subsidy of 50 percent on the unit cost of ₹80,000 per hectare for marigold cultivation. Land ownership is a necessary requirement for farmers wishing to cultivate marigolds under this initiative.
To be eligible, farmers must provide an LPC and updated land receipts. Farmers without land ownership can apply by providing an agreement. If an applicant’s name isn’t clearly mentioned in the land ownership or revenue receipts, a genealogy must be provided along with those documents.
Furthermore, farmers participating in the marigold cultivation scheme can also benefit from a freight vehicle subsidy. This subsidy supports farmers in purchasing freight vehicles to transport their harvested marigolds to market. The estimated cost of a freight vehicle is ₹6,50,000, with the government providing a subsidy of ₹3,25,000 (50 percent), or 50 percent of the actual vehicle’s cost, whichever is less.
To apply, farmers must upload a quotation for the intended vehicle, their land documents, and an agreement related to their marigold cultivation. For more information, farmers are encouraged to contact the Agriculture Department’s Kisan Call Center or their local agricultural office.
