Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana through video conferencing, transferring Rs 10,000 each to 75 lakh women. The direct transfer of funds, totaling Rs 7,500 crore, aimed to foster self-employment and improve livelihoods. The scheme, designed by the Government of Bihar, seeks to empower women by promoting self-employment opportunities. It provides financial support to one woman from each family, enabling them to engage in income-generating activities. Each beneficiary is provided with an initial grant of Rs. 10,000 via Direct Benefit Transfer, with the potential for additional financial aid up to Rs. 2 lakh. These funds can be utilized in areas chosen by the beneficiary, including agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, and small-scale enterprises. The scheme incorporates training from community resource persons from Self Help Groups, and Gramin Haat-Bazaars are planned to support the sale of their products. The launch of the program will involve participation across multiple administrative levels.
