The Bihar prohibition law has resulted in its first sentencing of a woman, who was given a five-year prison term and a fine of 1 lakh rupees. The woman was found guilty of illegally selling alcohol in Bagaha. The arrest happened three years ago in Jitpur Matiyaria village, where the authorities seized 32 liters of local liquor, 80 kg of unfinished liquor and equipment. The court, under Special Judge Rajiv Kumar Dwivedi, delivered this historic verdict. An additional six months will be added to her sentence if the fine isn’t paid. The woman was then taken to Bagaha jail. SPP Anwar Hussain Ansari represented the government’s case.
