The political climate in Bihar is charged with the recent controversy surrounding derogatory remarks directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother. The ruling NDA has announced a Bihar-wide shutdown on September 4th in response. The BJP, along with its NDA allies, will be participating in this shutdown.
PM Modi recently stated that while he may forgive the RJD and Congress for the insult to his mother, the people of Bihar will not. The BJP is developing a comprehensive campaign strategy to address the issue at multiple levels. This includes taking the issue to the grassroots, holding demonstrations, and engaging the public.
A key meeting is scheduled in Delhi on Wednesday, where senior BJP leaders from Bihar will meet with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This gathering is considered essential to finalize the party’s electoral strategy for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. Expected attendees include BJP National President JP Nadda, the Bihar BJP President, Deputy Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, and other leading party figures. The meeting will likely involve discussions on organizational matters, political strategies, NDA coordination, ground-level feedback, and the government’s performance. Also on the agenda will be an analysis of the opposition’s ‘Voter Rights Yatra’.
The BJP’s strategy centers on utilizing the controversy surrounding the remarks against PM Modi’s mother to connect with voters. Public demonstrations and protests are planned to bring awareness to the insult and highlight the potential consequences of such behavior should the opposition gain power.
The BJP is prioritizing the Seemanchal region of Bihar, aiming to secure the 30 seats across Katihar, Purnia, Araria, and Kishanganj. Preparations for PM Modi’s rally in Purnia on September 15th are underway, as this visit to Seemanchal is viewed as highly significant and will likely influence the outcome of the 30 seats. It is anticipated that PM Modi will announce major infrastructural projects and other developments during the rally, including an airport.
The BJP is also assessing the impact of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party, determining whether it poses any challenges to the NDA’s prospects. For organizational purposes, the BJP has divided Bihar into 11 blocks, and PM Modi’s visit schedule is crafted to cover all of them.
