
The Congress party has taken a significant step in its preparations for the Bihar Assembly elections by appointing 58 observers. Under the direction of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the appointments include key leaders such as Wing Commander Anuma Acharya (Retired), Ali Mehdi, Ashok Chandna, Manoj Yadav, Nadeem Javed, Shoaib Khan, Akhilesh Yadav, and Virendra Yadav. This initiative underscores the party’s determination to mount a strong challenge in the upcoming elections.
In the previous Assembly elections, the RJD, the leading party in the ‘Mahagathbandhan,’ contested 144 seats, winning 75. The Bihar Assembly has a total of 243 seats.
In the last election cycle, the Congress contested 70 seats, managing to secure only 19. Another coalition partner, the CPI (ML) Liberation, contested 19 seats and won 12. The elections are expected to be held in October-November.
