The Congress party has launched a vocal campaign in the Bihar elections utilizing a Bhojpuri song to accuse the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) of engaging in vote theft and electoral irregularities. The song, featuring the phrase “Votva Chor Lagela,” directly translates to “The vote thief seems,” which aims to create a catchy and memorable message for voters. The video includes lyrics that directly call out the BJP and ECI, and accuses them of corruption and undermining the democratic process.
This campaign is launched in the wake of allegations made by Congress leaders, particularly Rahul Gandhi. The campaign underscores concerns about the integrity of the electoral process and emphasizes several specific instances of alleged irregularities. These irregularities include the presence of duplicate names in the voter lists, the exclusion of names from the voter rolls, and other instances suggesting potential electoral fraud.
The Congress party also highlighted the reported presence of Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Sinha’s name in two different voter lists, along with the alleged disappearance of a retired IAS officer and his wife from the rolls. Further accusations involve 22 deceased people still listed as voters and the presence of 230 people at a single address in Jumui.
The Congress party is deploying a ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ as part of its efforts to mobilize support and raise awareness. This strategy incorporates local cultural elements to build a connection with the local population and create a sense of solidarity against electoral malpractices.
