
The burning of Ravana’s effigies took place nationwide this Dussehra. Major cities such as Delhi, Patna, and Jammu hosted Ravana Dahan ceremonies, attracting large crowds. President Droupadi Murmu participated in the Vijayadashami celebrations organized by the Shri Dharmic Leela Committee in Delhi, where she symbolically shot an arrow to initiate the burning of the Ravana effigy. Despite the rain, the enthusiasm for Dussehra in Delhi was evident, with large crowds attending the events, using umbrellas and raincoats.
President Murmu stated, “Humanity progresses with the victory of good. When the demon of terrorism assails humankind, its elimination is vital. ‘Operation Sindoor’ by the Indian Army embodies humanity’s triumph over the Ravana of terrorism. We salute and thank every warrior safeguarding Mother India.”
Sonia Gandhi also attended the Ramlila at Parade Ground.
Ravana Dahan events were held at various locations in Delhi. Prime Minister Modi, President Murmu, and former Congress President Sonia Gandhi were among the attendees. The Nav Shri Dharmic Ramlila Committee at the Red Fort’s Parade Ground displayed a 50-foot Ravana effigy and 45-foot effigies of Meghnad and Kumbhakaran. Sonia Gandhi was present at this Ramlila to witness the burning of Ravana.
