The Election Commission is investigating a case involving RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and his voter ID cards. The Patna district administration has issued another letter to Yadav, reminding him to submit his second voter ID card for verification. Yadav had previously mentioned this second card during a press conference, but it has not yet been provided for the investigation. The administration initially requested the card on August 2, but there has been no response.
The Election Commission has appealed to political parties and voters to actively participate in the process of creating an accurate voter list, emphasizing the importance of filing claims and objections. The commission is committed to conducting fair and impartial elections, with the SVEEP campaign’s focus on removing ineligible voters and including eligible ones.
Tejashwi Yadav’s legitimate EPIC number is RAB0456228. During a press conference, he shared EPIC number RAB2916120, which has no record in the system. Consequently, the Election Commission has sent Yadav a notice and requested the original voter ID cards. This issue has gained significant attention in state politics leading up to the upcoming assembly elections.
The controversy began when Tejashwi Yadav claimed his name was not in the draft voter list and shared the EPIC number RAB2916120. However, a search for this number yielded no results. The Election Commission then clarified that his name was, in fact, on the draft list.
The Election Commission has confirmed that Tejashwi Yadav’s name is registered with EPIC number RAB0456228 (Patliputra constituency, polling station 204, serial number 416), which he used in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections. The second EPIC number is not in the records, raising the possibility of it being fraudulent.
The Election Commission is continuing its investigation and has sent another notice to Tejashwi Yadav, seeking clarification regarding the RAB2916120 number. So far, he has not responded, and he previously characterized the situation as a political conspiracy, claiming his EPIC number was altered.
