Bihar is experiencing heightened activity as the upcoming assembly elections draw closer. As part of the preparations, the Chief Election Commissioner will visit Bihar on October 4th and 5th along with the two election commissioners, to evaluate the progress of the election preparations. They will be holding discussions with the Chief Electoral Officer and other state officials to assess the status of election readiness.
A meeting for the observers appointed by the commission is scheduled in Delhi this Friday, prior to the Chief Election Commissioner’s visit to Bihar. The meeting will involve all election observers, law enforcement, and other election-related officials. Usually, the Election Commission announces the election dates after a full member visits a state. Consequently, the announcement of the Bihar elections is likely to be made after October 5th.
The Election Commission has decided to deploy 470 officials, including 320 IAS and 60 IPS officers, as central observers for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. These observers will also be assigned to monitor by-elections in 8 other states. The meeting is slated to occur at 10 AM on Friday at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) in Dwarka.
The Election Commission has published the final voter list after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The final voter list now includes 14 lakh new voters. Voters can check their details in the list through a link available on the commission’s website. More information about the voter list can be found on the website at https://voters.eci.gov.in/.
