In Jehanabad, Bihar, a horrifying incident unfolded when a man allegedly murdered his wife and then attempted to disguise his crime by claiming a snakebite. His deceit was ultimately undone by his two disabled daughters, who communicated the truth to their uncle. The police have apprehended the suspect.
The incident took place in Sultanpur village, under the jurisdiction of the Parsa Bigha police station. The victim, who was a mother of five, was killed by her husband. The event occurred on Thursday night, leading to the immediate arrest of Ranjan Das.
According to the police, the victim’s brother filed a case. After a post-mortem at Sadar Hospital, the body of Rinki Devi (34) was given to the family. Her brother, Bablu Kumar, a resident of Shankarganj village, stated that his sister married Ranjan Das, a resident of Sultanpur village, in 2013. They had five children, two of whom are disabled.
Bablu said that his brother-in-law, a laborer, wasted money, which Rinki frequently opposed, asking him to spend responsibly, leading to frequent arguments. After a fight, Rinki had been staying at her parent’s house for days. On Thursday, her husband brought her back, but later, another dispute erupted, and he allegedly strangled her and fled. The next day, the family found out about her death, and the two disabled nieces gestured the truth to their uncle. The family searched for the husband but couldn’t find him, and his family was also gone.
Later, the family learned that the husband was in a hospital, claiming a snakebite. The police were informed, and they arrested him. The police have said that the snakebite claim is suspicious, and further action is pending.
